Prof. Kwang-Sun Kim is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Pusan National University (PNU), Korea. He earned his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the Department of Chemistry at KAIST in 2003, with a dissertation titled “Biogenesis of Small noncoding RNAs in Escherichia coli.” Following his doctoral studies, he remained at KAIST as a Research Fellow until April 2005. He then joined the laboratory of Prof. Stanley N. Cohen at Stanford University as a Postdoctoral Fellow.

    From 2006 to 2010, Prof. Kim focused on developing genetic screening systems to identify cellular modulators of ribonuclease activity. In 2010, he returned to Korea and joined the Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology (KRIBB) as a Senior Researcher, where he conducted research on antibacterial resistance and its mechanisms of action until 2015.

   He subsequently joined the faculty at PNU, where his current research interests include the development of novel antibacterial nanomaterials, vaccine platforms, and their applications in both biological and environmental contexts. To date, Prof. Kim has published over 83 papers in SCIE-indexed journals and holds seven registered patents. He was recognized as the Best Young Researcher by PNU in 2019. In addition, he serves as Guest Editors and Topic Editors for several SCIE journals, including Pharmaceutics and Frontiers in Pharmacology.
